Konstantin Y. SMOLENTSEV have participated in Canada-Russia Business Summit,which took place in Ottawa (Canada). Within
the limits of the Forum, there has passed VI Session of Russian-Canada
Intergovernmental Economics Commission (IEC) and second session of
Canada-Russia Business Council (CRBC).

under the theme "Partners, Progress and Prospects" and in the format "business
circles – governments of two countries" has been held for the first time
in practice for the mutual relationship.
Minister of Agriculture of the Russian Federation Aleksei Gordeyev was the head of
Russian delegation. Co-chairman of CRBC from the Russian side was the President
of Russian Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs (RUIE) Aleksandr Shokhin, from Canadian – chairman of the Board of
Directors of the Canada Eurasia Russia Business Council (CERBA) Don Whalen. Representatives
of the government, parliamentarians of
Russia
and
Canada
, largest Russian
and Canadian companies, representatives of subjects of the
Russian Federation
, provinces and regions of
Canada
,
and also Vladislav Tretyak participated in the Forum.
Canada-Russia Business Council was created in 2004.
CRBC groups that are currently functioning: mining & metallurgy, energy, information
technologies and telecommunications, transportation and aerospace industry,
agriculture, on
Arctic and the North, finance
industry group is in the process of forming.
There has been a meeting of co-chairmen of IEC – the Minister
of Agriculture of the Russian Federation Aleksei Gordeyev with the Minister of International Trade of Canada
David Emerson, along with the Minister of Agriculture of Canada Chuk Strahl and with heads of Chambers
of Parliament of Canada – all within the limits of the Forum.
As a result of the Forum, a few intergovernmental and
business agreements have been signed.
Russian and Canadian sides greatly value the past event
as a powerful positive impulse to development of bilateral cooperation between
Russia
and
Canada
