Association of Independent Directors (AID) is a professional organization, uniting Russian and International corporate directors and experts in sphere of corporate management.

«Independent directors play the most important role today. In conditions of uncertainty companies expect, that independent directors will take an active position and will become leaders in the process of overcoming hard period. Dec 21, 2008 Section "Consultations on career and business"

In 2004 I was offered to lead a section in one of the best Russian women’s Internet portals Kleo.ru – «Consultations on Kleo à Career» http://www.kleo.ru/consult/buizness/spec_21.shtml.

First I didn’t take it seriously… Only after I understood how important it is for people who ask for help. Both women and men (although, rarely) write. They write from Russia, USA, Greece, Canada, France, Estonia, Latvia, UK, Kazakhstan, Kirgizstan, Germany, Lithuania, Israel, Finland, Belarus, Ukraine, Uzbekistan, South Korea, Cyprus, other countries of Europe and Asia. I got around 600 letters already. I could (and I wanted to, won’t lie) answer to almost 300. Why? I can help a person only when he wants to get help and is willing to change, make certain steps. But when it’s «I don’t know what I want – but make a miracle for me while I sleep» – miracles happened only in fairytales, but those times have left a long time ago…

Dec 20, 2008 Cross-cultural differences or we're so different!

Often I meet up with Russian and foreign politicians and businessmen http://en.smolentsev.com/projects/66.htm.  We’re all human, somewhere different, somewhat similar. Although, being inside this process, you understand, that cross-cultural differences are not a myth, but cruel reality. We’re similar in our wish to communicate, we love happy companies, up for drinking sometimes too J But where difference is often seen – is in approach of organizations to such events and in what happens after. Now about the first one – organizations and their approach. From their side – calm, planned, organized, with result being the target. Simply – it is a process, which has to give something in return. From Russian side dominant are, with rare exceptions, pathos, presence, narcissism. Results with continuation – I gave the word and I forgot about it… I always think about this. I feel sorry for Russia! Why is that? Perhaps, its true, 20 years of capitalism – is not a long enough term, mentality changes slower, than the materialistic world around us…
