Jan 9, 2010 Lucky guy! Or is it a sign?
During Christmas holiday I have bought a bottle of elite French wine in a liquor store. I decided to open it right away. I took off the plastic cover... and there was no cork!!! Went back to the store. The manager was really surprised. According to him, it happens one time in a million! So I started wondering. Am I a lucky guy? Or is it a sign?

Jan 7, 2010 Merry Christmas!
Love and peace to all!
Jan 6, 2010 Thought before Christmas
Before Christmas, it is always a time for thought, reevaluation of your actions, achievements (or changes?) of the past year...

Last year was very busy. Lots of events. Different ones. Some of them were good: I have achieved what I wanted for a long time. And had to do. Perhaps, it is one of the main achievements. Trials to change yourself... Surrounding me people are more aware if I did a little bit? It is understood, that path has no end, while alive, but I do wish it did...

A lot of things about myself upset me. Probably from there sadness of the past year comes.

I will try to change. Then the world will change too. Undoubtedly.

To changes!

Before Christmas I departed Russia with the flight as Vladislav Tretiak. Vladislav Tretiak lfew to North America to look for candidates for the Russian hockey Olympic team. My goal is less grandious – get pleasure from hockey matches with participation of Russian hockey players. I was happy for Russians yesetrday in the game of Ottawa Senators against Philadelphia Flyers. Anton Volchenkov has assisted goals, and Alex Kovalev – the hero of the game – has scored 3 times! Ahead – the Olympic games in Vancouver!

Dec 17, 2009 Let the holidays continue! :))
Yesterday, along with Business Russia I have celebrated upcoming New 2010 Year in the Banquet hall of Moscow Government building. Can you imagine who was in the hall when a member of the Federal Council of the Russian Federation was singing to his own accompaniment?! ;)))

Dec 14, 2009 Good deeds of Vladislav Tretiak
On a Friday evening of December 11th after 11 years interval a legendary hockey player came back on ice, he is twice a winner of the Stanley Cup with "Detroit Red Wings" (1997, 1998), which is won the Olympic Games twice, 7 times World Champion, president of CSKA, Head of the Board of Directors NHL, as well as member of the Federal Council of Primorye region – Vechyaslav Fetisov.

And in the same evening a different world legend of hockey, Champion of Olympic games (1972, 1976, 1984), ten times world champion, multiple champion of Europe and the USSR, five times the best hockey player of the USSR, three times best hockey player of Europe, two times winner as the best goalkeeper in world championships, the first European to be placed in the Hockey Hall of Fame in Toronto, "Russian miracle" Vladislav Tretiak has invited to dinner his friends from the Charity fund, including me to one of the coziest Moscow restaurants.

Every time it is a pleasure to be around this kind and interesting person. Special sense of HUMANITY comes from Vladislav Aleksandrovich. He said it very well that evening: "it doesn't matter who we are now, famous or not, rich or poor, but there will be a moment when we are all going to be standing in front of God, and what kindness did we bring to this world?"

For several years now the Charity Fund of A. Tretiak has been carrying out annual charity auctions to help the poor Russian population. This thought has occurred in his mind at a charity breakfast to fight AIDS in Toronto, where in one hall two and a half thousand famous athletes gathered. Tretiak's initiative was immediately supported by the Embassy of Canada in Russia and Canada Eurasia Russia Business Association. The auction is a bright example of human cooperation between Russia and Canada. This program is not one time aid, but a long term project counting on a perspective. Its goal – to help people with limited opportunities, orphans, older people feel as a right member of the society. From the moment of the first Auction carried out in 2002, its popularity rapidly grew: the first auction gathered 5,000 USD, and the last one of 2009 gathered more than 127,000 USD. Gathered means are transferred for charity purposes to hospitals, orphanages, retirement homes of Saratov, Tver', Irkutsk, Moscow and other cities and regions of Russia.

This Fall an auction has been carried out in Toronto – for the first time. Nest time – in the beginning of the next year in Moscow. During a recent visit to Moscow of the government delegation of the Canada's province Quebec with its Premier Jean Charest, it was offered to Vladislav Tretiak to carry out a charity auction in Quebec â 2010.

However, charity activity is not limited to annual auctions and financial aid.

The Charity Fund of Vladislav Tretiak has organized a group of Canadian surgeons-scientists to come to Saratov and perform series of plastic surgeries for kids. Besides direct free help to the little patients, project of mutual help of the Tretiak's Fund and the Canadian Fund of plastic and recovering surgeries carried a knowledge character: it is some sort of master classes allowing to learn the practical side of unique operations. General name of the medical mission – "Facing the Future". A delegation consisting of five most famous Canadian doctors, participating in Saratov events, was leaded by a professor from University of Toronto Peter Adamson. He represents an association helping kids, suffering from in-born and acquired facial defects. Before that visit, plastic surgeon Peter Adamson has already been invited by the president of the Society of Russia-Canada Friendship, deputy of the Duma Vladislav Tretiak to Saratov for charity operations for kids with intense burns, in-born pathologies and facial traumas. But in general, work experience of Adamson in Russia goes way back with its roots to 1992, when a similar first free work has started in Yekaterinburg. Since then geography of this activity in Russia has broadened.

Tretiak's Fund helps sports and recreational complexes, municipals, hospitals, libraries, retirement homes and realized several other kind initiatives.

Low bow to you, Vladislav Aleksandrovich!

Nov 29, 2009 Feedback, thoughts..
Recently E-xecutive portal has published an interview with me "Konstantin Smolentsev: "Russian business is not interested in consulting". The interview can be found at http://ru.smolentsev.com/corp/inverviews/265.htm . A very active discussion has been carried out at the E-xecutive forum. I received a lot of feedback from consultants, as well as entrepreneurs. With the authors' agreement, you can read some of them by clicking at the link below "Feedback for this article".

I am also very interested in your opinion, dear friends, on the discussed questions in the interview. Because I think that it is not so much a professional problem, but a reflection of our society's condition.

Nov 22, 2009 People-persons..

A year ago I have welcomed the first snow on a business trip outside Moscow. This year, the first snow came when I was in Sergiyev Posad. Perhaps it was snowing was there before. But I was not there. The Trinity Lavra of St. Sergius it is especially tranquil when it’s snowing. And when during mass they turned off electric light, it seemed like with the candles’ flame nothing will distract from thoughts about God, you… From the side of Saint Sergiy Radonezhsky relic special warmth is felt… The mass has ended and… chaos began! The crowd rushed to relics. Crushing, exclaiming «let me though!», «you weren’t standing here!», «these bros came here to ask a few more billions»,… I thought, Saint Sergiy Radonezhsky is looking at us right now and it praying infinitely for us, sinful people… And my soul feels better from his protection.

Nov 3, 2009 Dialogue with Vladimir Soloviev

Recently I asked Vladimir Soloviev a question: what theatres and theatrical performances have made a bright impression and what does he recommend seeing? Which directors and actors stand out?

V.Soloviev: «If you’re ever in New York, then I recommend you to watch an amazing musical Jersey Boys about Four Seasons band. In Russia – The Moscow Art Academic Theatre – everything, from «Konek-gorbunok» to «White guards». Galia Volchek has been able to create an inclredible collective. What Marina Neevola shows in her theatre costs a lot. We have a lot of strong actors. Habensky is very interesting in theatre. Misha Porechenkov – simply a fantastic actor. Unfortunately their images became more cinema oriented.»

We shall check that out and share with you!

Oct 11, 2009 Observations of a political scientist and a person
Being a political scientist and a person, I have the opportunity to participate in many political events in different countries. I was a witness of the first foreign visit of the President of the United States Barack Obama to Ottawa, and just now SIC Summit in Chisinau. And what is noticeable is: the more democratic the society is, the less problems are caused for regular citizens by security, moreover without any threat to the important persons as well. Immediately a one of my favorite phrases comes to mind by one of the greatest Russian actresses Faina Ranevskaya: «Against who are we friends, girls?» ;)

Oct 4, 2009 To The Woman

Like flame of love to hang on dew

To hear beloved lips moan at dawn

Gazing, to breathe in warmth

Is that a dream?

Is that the truth?

Sep 14, 2009 Men! Do something!

Recently I started noticing that I receive a lot of letters from men. And unlike messages from women, there are a lot of extreme questions: what do I write in press, what do I say in an interview, which pose should I take for television or a photo, etc. Nonsense. Made me think… Is it a consequence of my national popularity? :) Or is it a destroying consequence on men kind due to financial crisis? Or is it mass crisis of middle aged men with active development of insecurities? In any case, suffering men! Pay more attention to women! I am a happy straight man ;) And one more thing – do something and everything will fall in its place! I know for sure!

Aug 26, 2009 Concert – impromptu

A small group of us were standing in a Chisinau Organ Hall not long ago. A young man passes us by. Then he returns and asks: «Do you want to listen to a concert?» Unexpected! And not because we are in a gorgeous Organ Hall, but because we paid a personal visit and outside was sunny non-concert day. A little bit shy, couldn’t really understand but… yes! Empty Organ Hall, there was only a couple of us in the VIP in the center of the auditorium. Some guys, dressed almost in beach clothes start putting equipment: chairs, lecterns, shock installation, electro piano, acoustic columns, accordions on a stage. Everyone connects, take seats, and… the magic begins! Seven accordionists, bassist, pianist and a drummer – that is the unique structure of the collective. First we heard Bach, then other classics, variety and a folk music, jazz, modern music… Impressive! From the bottom of our souls! Big thank you to those who performed and our relative Nikolae RomaÅŸco, to whose respect the music was played! Joint photos for memory and see you soon Eugen Negruta and «Honored collective of Republic of Moldova » ensemble of accordionists «Concertino»!

Aug 21, 2009 Rocky monasteries

Interesting feeling, that I have never felt, has occurred to me in Orthodox monasteries built into hills of Moldova. Steep rocks above Dniester. Narrowest footpaths to monasteries. Low «cells» and temple premises that have been cut down in rock more than one hundred years ago. There are no water pipe and electricity, no windows and no doors, just narrow and little open apertures. Full ascetism and detachment from the world. And opposite to that below through the deep river – well-groomed vineyards, cozy Moldavian villages shielding surface of water from voices of bathing children. Inside of a civilization and outside of it …
